Physiological Changes in Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) by Postharvest Application with Hexanal Containing Aqueous Formulations
نویسندگان
چکیده
Aim: Okra is a vegetable that holds significant share in both domestic and export markets, but it prone to desiccation fungal spoilage, leading short shelf life. A laboratory study was undertaken determine the effects of hexanal containing aqueous formulation improve life okra with objective maintain best quality pods for end consumer acceptance.
Study Design: Factorial Completely Randomized Design followed three replications.
Place Duration Study: The conducted conditions, Department Vegetable Science, Horticultural College Research Institute, Coimbatore during 2021-2022
Methodology: In this study, TNAU released nanoformulation– FRUITY FRESH – ENHANCED FRESHNESS FORMULATION consisting 2% Hexanal, 10% Formulation ingredients, 88% Deionized filler. used at varying concentrations imposing treatments on freshly harvested, uniform sized undamaged tender bhendi hybrid COBh H4 (TNAU hybrid) using spray dip methods under ambient cold storage conditions physiological parameters were assessed.
Results: As per investigation, Enhanced Freshness method slower loss weight, preserves L*, a*, b* value, extend preserved acceptance 9 days as compared control.
Conclusion: gave knowledge their effectiveness use post-harvest technology tool okra.

Fertilizer Requirement for Densely Planted Okra ( Abelmoschus esculentus L . )
A study was conducted at Mahailluppallama, in the Low country Dry zone (DL1b) of Sri Lanka, during Maha (2008/2009) to determine the fertilizer requirement of Okra when planted at closer spacings. Three (03) fertilizer levels (T1DOA recommendation/ plant, 2 DOA recommendation/ unit area and T31 1⁄2 times DOA recommendation/ unit area) were tested using Okra varieties Haritha and Green Tender (F...

The fertigation response of sugar mill effluent doses namely: 5%, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% on Abelmoschus esculentus (var. IHR 31) in two different seasons, that is, rainy (Kharif) and summer (Zaid) seasons was investigated. The study revealed that fertigant had significant (P<0.01) effect on moisture content, EC, pH, Cl , OC, HCO3 , CO3 -2 , Na + , K + , Ca 2+ , Mg 2+ , Fe 2+ , TKN, NO3 2, ...
متن کاملGenetic diversity analysis of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) by inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers.
Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) is not only a nutrient-rich vegetable but also an important medicinal herb. Inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers were employed to investigate the genetic diversity and differentiation of 24 okra genotypes. In this study, the PCR products were separated by electrophoresis on 8% nondenaturing polyacrylamide gel and visualized by silver staining. The 22 ISSR...
متن کاملNitrogen application affects yield and postharvest quality of okra (Hibiscus esculentus L. cv. ‘Boyiatiou’)
In Greece and Turkey, okra (Hibiscus esculentus L.) is cultivated for small pods (≤4-5 cm), which are highly perishable after harvest. In this experiment, okra was cultivated at 4 levels of N (30, 150, 300 and 450 mg l-1) within the irrigation water. Pod yield was highest at 300 mg l-1 N. High N increased the nitrate content and decreased dry matter without affecting pod colour (P

Despite the importance of okra, as one of the important vegetable crop, very little attention has been paid to its genetic improvement using advanced biotechnological tools. The exploitation of marker assisted breeding in okra is often limited due to the availability of a few molecular markers, the absence of molecular genetic-map(s), and other molecular tools. Chromosome linkage-groups were no...
